As many of you already know, by having first hand experience or by watching the news on television or on social networks, CoVid-19 and the relative strategies of containment are causing great difficulties in our territories. The Lodi province is one of the worst hit, and the first to be shut off in the red zone.
For many people it’s harder to move, shop, work and live a life of self-determination as they where used to.
All of this is reflecting upon every aspect of our lives, and even more so upon our ability to sustain the families in need, who find themselves today even more so.
With the shut down of the red zones, and the supermarkets assaulted by the public it has become very difficult for the Centro di Raccolta Solidale (co-managed by Caritas Lodigiana) to continue delivering the weekly food parcels to those in need, especially because without suppliers, we don’t have any products.
The prolonging of this scenario has made us realize we can’t wait for our usual channels to unfreeze. This week we where able to provide an emergency delivery, buying directly new goods, however even by putting all our economic and human recourses at work we weren’t able to reach all the families who usually turn to our services. The next few weeks and months will be even harder.
We are highly aware that this situation had a severe impact on your lives as well, however we find ourselves in need to appeal to your sensibility to obtain your support in this difficult moment.
Any kind of contribution will be precious for us: this situation has forced us to suspend the food-drive we had scheduled for this Saturday (7th of March), one of the essential instruments we have created to sustain our mission, thus we really need your help.
Please, donate on Rete del Dono (the biggest italian crowdfunding platform for social project)
The project was born from the encounter of several organizations in the Lodi province, that help families in need, and host the homeless and the marginalized in shelters, soup kitchens, halfway houses and in the parish.

In two weeks we will finish our stocks! It is important to reach the crowdfunding objective in a short time, in order to start as soon as possible the purchase of food that will be missing.
Caritas, one of the Church’s biggest humanitarian services, is continuing its work for the poor and marginalized during the global coronavirus pandemic. Francesco Holmes with the group’s Refugee Project tells us how their work has been impacted by the virus.
